Meet the Management team

Practice Manager, Kim Hobbs joined the firm in May 2007, having previously held a similar role in another Herts. law firm for 4 ½ years.

The role takes in such areas as strategy planning, marketing, compliance, management and training, working closely with the partners.

Kim’s priority on joining was to steer the firm towards gaining the Law Society’s coveted Lexcel quality mark*. Curwens succeeded at our first attempt and became an ‘Accredited Firm’ in Summer 2008.  Kim retains responsibility as the internal auditor for Lexcel and for the success of ongoing assessments. He says: “Lexcel has been a great asset to the firm, keeping us focused on key areas of good business practice and client care.  Knowing that we have passed Lexcel should give clients greater confidence in our work for them”.

Kim is married to Jo (Day Care Manager for a children’s centre) and father of two boys.  He is also Chair of Governors for a Church of England Primary School in Hemel Hempstead.

In leisure time, Kim is a lifelong Leeds United fan.  He says the ups and downs of the 2009/10 season were very stressful but ultimately rewarding!

Kim is based in Enfield.  Contact him for any questions about client care, compliance and so on.

* Lexcel is the Law Society’s practice management standard, signifying ‘Legal Excellence’.  Currently only 8% of UK law firms have passed this standard.

Edward joined Curwens in November 2002 and is responsible for the IT Systems and implementation of all IT related projects. Since this time Edward has enabled a number of systems to improve lawyer workflow, such as digital dictation, case management, digital scanning and remote working.

Security and confidentiality are also a primary concern, and the IT department has taken thorough steps to ensure that Curwens is protected from viruses and internet malware by the use of modern firewall and anti-virus software.

When not planning the IT strategy and future projects, Edward will be assisting the staff within Curwens to ensure that they are using the systems to the maximum potential, and also making sure that the service given to clients its not hindered or interrupted by the bugs, errors and crashes which are part of modern electronic systems.

Edward keeps an active interest in IT developments and technology, and in particular is aware of the need for an understanding of how people interact with computers, what they use them for and how it affects their work and lives.
