Meet the Dispute Resolution team

Alan is Head of Litigation at Curwens. As a top European Insurance Litigator with almost thirty years experience in the insurance market, he has achieved an enviable reputation within the UK and European Insurance sector. Alan deals with claims for major personal injury cases – including fatal accidents and catastrophic injury – coverage and transactional issues and he and his team act for some of Europe’s major insurers. He is a member of ERA (the Academy of European Law) and is regularly invited to give lectures to European Insurers on the workings of the English legal system.

In his spare time, Alan is Chair of Governors at a local school and his other interests include the performing arts.

Norma is a Partner in the Litigation Department based at the Enfield office. She has over 20 years experience in Litigation specialising in Commercial, Insolvency and Personal Injury litigation in the High Court and County Courts. Her practice also includes Contentious Probate cases, involving disputes regarding Wills.

She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the Association of Women Solicitors and she is also a Board Director of the North London Chamber of Commerce with particular responsibility for networking events. She sits as a member of the University of Hertfordshire School of Law Professional Advisory Committee.

Norma gets involved with many local projects and is also a volunteer supporter of the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust, a charity for the people of Enfield supporting those living with Cancer. She is particularly involved in Fundraising and Publicity. Apart from that, she spends any spare time with her family, enjoys walking in the Peak District and is a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society.

Geoffrey is a leading commercial and civil litigator, with over 30 years experience in his specialist field. Formerly a partner in a major city practice, Geoff has considerable knowledge of the legal expense market and currently heads the firm’s Legal Expense Litigation Team. Within this role, Geoff has acted for insurers dealing with high net worth and high profile cases. In his current position as partner in Curwens his caseload includes:

  • Property litigation
  • Boundary disputes
  • Neighbour disputes
  • Contract litigation
  • Professional negligence

 

Rob Pearson qualified in October 1980 and has been a partner in Curwens since 1987. Having many years of experience in a broad range of litigation work including family law, he now concentrates on three areas in particular: landlord and tenant litigation, other property litigation (notably boundary disputes) and negligence cases against solicitors, usually in relation to property issues. Rob has given talks on various issues involved in such cases.

In the commercial field, Rob regularly acts for both landlords and tenants in connection with such matters as forfeiture of commercial leases, dilapidations claims, and lease renewals.

In the residential field, Rob deals with possession claims for landlords, and lease extension and enfranchisement claims for tenants or groups of tenants.

Away from the office, Rob loves to watch rugby and cricket, to go walking in his native Hertfordshire or further afield, and is an avid reader of detective fiction. He is also fascinated by the First World War, and has given talks on it, as well as acting as a guide to small groups on visits to the battlefields of France and Belgium.

Lâle is an Associate & Solicitor-Advocate in the Litigation team, having trained and qualified with Curwens in 2006. She also oversees the Debt Recovery Team who are a specialist unit offering the "Prompt Pay" scheme as well as other complex pieces of debt related litigation.

Her early career has included work with PricewaterhouseCooper's Forensic Services team working on high profile cases including Enron, along with bankruptcy and insolvency work for an international telecoms plc and latterly commercial and strategic planning at J. Rothschild.

Lâle now deals with major commercial and property litigation cases for private and insurance funded clients. She is primarily a litigator with specialist expertise in property matters such as boundary, right of way and general neighbour disputes. She has also been involved in a number of pieces of High Court litigation concerning commercial contract and professional negligence disputes.

Her expertise ranges from property to contract litigation with a special emphasis on ADR and in particular Mediation. Having achieved a number of successful mediations on a range of acrimonius disputes, Lâle continues to promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) which has earned her praise in both commercial and personal claims.

In 2008 Lâle achieved the title of Solicitor-Advocate (All Higher Courts) enabling her to practice advocacy in all courts in all proceedings. She is a Member of the Solicitors' Association of Higher Court Advocates and a civil practitioner.

She is fluent in both spoken and written Turkish.

Away from the office, Lâle enjoys holidays, reading and regular trips to the cinema.
